Monye Pushes For Silverware

Harlequins winger, Ugo Monye, has admitted that it would be hard to take if the club finished the season without any silverware.

The England speedster has been a crucial part of the side's successful season, so far, which currently has the Londoners gunning for the end of season play-offs. The Quins continue to be popular options in Aviva Premiership Betting.

Their stunning start to the campaign has tailed off since the turn of the year, casting doubts over whether or not the club have the 'killer instinct' needed to win titles. That was the case as they were comprehensively dumped out of the Amlin Challenge Cup at the hands of Toulon, leaving their league campaign as the sole focus in the season’s closing weeks.

Monye has made it clear he would feel a sense of “injustice” if the Quins weren’t rewarded with a trophy come the end of the season. The winger hasn’t been at his prolific best this year, yet the 28-year old remains an important part of John Kingston’s plans.

"We really targeted those early games during the World Cup period and that has given us the momentum - and that is a massive factor in sport. Winning ten Premiership games in a row gave us that platform and we have just built from there."

"I think it would be an injustice if we came away from this season empty-handed. We won the Amlin Challenge Cup last year, which was great, and we have been in a superb position to add to that."

However, the Quins could have benefitted from some Heineken Cup tips the side failed to make the knock-out stage of this year's tournament.

As well as helping the Harlequins win the Premiership title, Monye will also be hoping to catch the eye of the new England management set-up. The former British and Irish Lion has been out of the international scene for much of the past 12 months, and will be looking to re-establish himself as part of the squad.
